Man Suspected In Home Invasion, Attempted Robbery
VINELAND, N.J. - Police identified Sunday a suspect who is believed to have killed a Vineland man and committed a possible home invasion.
Police said John Ramirez has been charged with shooting a 43-year-old man in the head as he sat on his front porch.
It happened on the 300 block of South Seventh Street.
Police said the victim's cell phone and $60 cash were stolen.
Police told Fox 29 a cab driver called police around 2 a.m. Saturday to report a possible robbery at 7th and Montrose. The driver said a man tried to get into his vehicle when he already had a customer.
When police arrived, they saw a man running from the area who fit the description given by the cab driver. Police said he entered a house on Montrose Street.
Meanwhile, police dispatch received a call about a man, of Hispanic decent, with a gunshot wound to his head in the same area. Police believe the incidents are related and robbery was the motive.
