This footage was shot in the Custer State Park in South Dakota, this is within the Black Hills National Forest.Last part of the video is where the Hunter picked up a large branch and threw it at the Cougar spooking it to leave.Estimated distance to the cameraman is 20 yards. Person filming this was Elk Hunting at the time. He made it leave by throwing a large branch at it.

Having grown up in Mountain Lion Country, it's never a good sign to see one of these Cougars checking you out and worse, watching him "Sit Down" like he did.That's what they do right before they launch.They can be up on top of you in a second.This is not exactly the largest Mountain Lion at probably around 120-150 pounds,appears to be a curious Male adolescent Mountain Lion .(Mountain Lions are the Fourth Largest Cats in the World at 300 pounds)Sometimes, these younger cats are more curious than anything. Beautiful animal for sure.Some of my personal finest moments of my life are close encounters with these big fellas.I don't think I'd have the guts to sit there and film it though.That takes incredible nerve.Every time I've ever been up close to one of these in the wild I need a few moments to collect myself.
