12 bombs had been reported to be 'lost' in the 1960's and late 50's.
None have been recovered and may still be 'active' in various parts of
the USA. Some munitions from the same era and even WW2 have made their
way onto beaches and self detonated. The fear still remains in some that
one of the lost nukes may also find their way into the open, washed in
by sea, and detonate.
The question still remains on how many
similar incidents the Russians have had, with no admission to a single
loss during the same era. There could be as many as 50+ assembled and
ready to go atomic bombs worldwide. Unaccounted for and a serious threat
to the human race.
