Atlantic City Casino Sets ‘Term Limits’ For its Staff

An Atlantic City, N.J. casino plans to keep its service fresh by
setting term limits for its front-line staff when it opens. When
employees’ terms run out, they will have to go through the hiring
process again, reports NPR.
Bellhops and dealers alike will be hired with terms of four to six
years by the casino called Revel. When their term comes to an end they
will have to reapply for their jobs and compete against other
candidates.
In a written statement, the company asserts that the policy will
ultimately “attract the most highly professional people who are inspired
by a highly competitive work environment.”
Critics of the policy say that the company is taking advantage of a
tough job market. While, supporters like Brian Tyrrell, a professor of
hospitality management at Stockton College in New Jersey, believe the
reapplication policy will motivate people to move up in the company
because managers are not required to reapply for their positions.http://thejobmouse.com/2012/01/31/atlantic-city-casino-sets-%E2%80%98term-limits%E2%80%99-for-its-staff/

  • Sounds like a great way for shitty managers to keep their jobs too. As long as youre constantly shuffling the deck of employees on a regular basis it appears that they are actually doing something to earn their sweet salaries.

  • Haha brian tyrell is my professor for geographical information systems. Great dude, but AC casinos have been sticking it to the local population for much longer than this, its a real love hate relationship.

  • The article doesn't mention that Gov. Christie gave the Revel owners a quarter of a billion dollar tax break. That being said,I will be surprised if Revel is even in operation for four years. The casino industry in AC is almost dead.It has been losing gamblers for years as casinos open up in other nearby states like Pa,De,and NY state and even in Brooklyn.I will never drop a coin in a machine at Revel.
