  • I remember landing in Bagram Dec 2001 with 10th mtn div and that base being like the wild, wild west. Signs of fresh battle. Soviet era Migs lined all up and down the runway. It was surreal to say the least.
    Things changed quickly however. Thousands of land mines removed, tents erected and wired off. The whole place was sterilized in just a few months.
    It took the element of mystery and excitement away.
    I'm sure I wouldn't even recognize the place today?
    Probably still a sh!thole I'm sure.. More..
