NEW CASTLE COUNTY, Del. - A New Castle county man could be fined Wednesday for having flags on his property supporting the troops and his father.
Joseph Dimino put up about 25 flags on July 1 as well as a few signs and banners. He says he planned to take them down shortly after the Independence Day holiday.
But on July 6 he got a letter from county officials threatening to fine him for a code violation.
Dimino said he shouldn't need a permit to support the troops or his father.
"He's a World War II Veteran, a decorated veteran, served this country. He just died this March," Domino said. "We just did a little extra for him. It just hurts us."
The county says he faces a $200 to $1,000 fine, but Dimino said he doesn't plan to take the flags down.
