  • 2/7 was my son's unit, and he was on that deployment in 2008. Based out of 29 Palms, CA, (the middle of nowhere in the desert) they are a battle-hardened unit that did multiple rotations to Iraq prior to going to Afghanistan in '08, the most recent being in 2007 where they fought in Anbar Province. They are absolutely the wrong unit to screw with, and they utterly trashed the taliban while over there. They are home now, but they're going back to Iraq later this year.
