QUEENSBURY — A Warren County man is facing charges after he allegedly
strangled a woman until she was unconscious and poured liquid dish soap
into the mouth of a 4-year-old child, police said.

apartment complex after receiving a 911 call about a domestic incident.

Hopper allegedly choked an adult female until she was unconscious after he
poured liquid dish soap into the mouth of a 4-year-old. When the woman
regained consciousness, Hopper allegedly held her and the child against
their will. Police said Hopper knew the woman and child.

By the time authorities arrived, Hopper had fled the scene. They located his
vehicle on Quaker Road a few minutes later and arrested him without

He was charged with second-degree strangulation, a
felony, and misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a child
and unlawful imprisonment.

The alleged victims were not seriously injured, police said.

Hopper was arraigned in Queensbury Town Court and released on his own
recognizance. An order of protection was issued, barring Hopper from
contacting the victims.

Warren County Sheriff’s Lt. Steven Stockdale said police have had prior dealings with Hopper regarding domestic violence.

He said additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
