Cadillac Clocked at 220.5 MPH on Texas Toll Road 
Hennessey VR1200 Twin Turbo Coupe runs 220.5 mph on a newly built section of the SH130 toll road near Austin, Texas for a full 1.75 miles and becomes the fastest Cadillac CTS-V in the world.
Runs were made on a closed course with a professional driver.Could have gone faster but they ran out of road.This Caddy has 1200 Horsepower. Later, Hennessey is planning a record run for the 275 mph Venom GT supercar.

Back in the 1970's, in my late Teens, I remember Lamborghini was
trying, without success, to get the Countach to break 200 mph. And now a
guy blows by it by over 20 mph IN A CADILLAC?! Technology really does march on.

Needless to say, this car has been highly modified.
There is probably very little "stock" about it, so Cadillac should not be given too much credit.

looked like he did it in 5th gear - never shifted into 6th. I wonder if with more road and 6th gear the result could've been higher yet.

@1976CapriII 600 hp sounds a bit much, but I get the point that after 200 mph (or certain speed) the need in hp increase grows exponentially relative to the need for mph increase. still, I'm wondering if he could've gone faster with more road and moving into 6th.

I drive on this road a few times year and I love it. There is a few places where deer like to cross and I have no dash cam yet.

this car has 1226hp to be exact. My buddy has a 1970 Dodge Charger with a 440 big big block and with the supercharger it pushes neear 1,200hp and its a fucking beast and it will scare the shit out of you, i've rode in it a few times. This caddy would come off the fucking ground with that much HP. Still a nice car though.

Has to do with horsepower, weight and aerodynamics. Lamborghini Countach had 450 horse vs Cadillac 1200 horse.
