  • Theres another video of this on here from a different angle. Why were two diff people filming this guy at the exact same time from different angles with the lightening strike still in frame?

Good point. Unless they are surveillance camera's strategically placed to follow this old Bub's moves in and out of his house. Dunno. What are the odds of that???

Not 100%,but im pretty sure this particular video has been duplicated into a mirror image from the original which is why is gives the impression of a different camera angle.

  • As lightening is one of my phobias, I have researched it immensely.Reason the tree explodes is because water and sap inside the tree gets superheated from the lightening strike...recent studies have shown that people who have been soaked from the rain have a better chance of survival than those who are dry.The water conducts the electricity around the body forming a sort of Faraday cage around the body.
    Cool,Huh?

    • @Fire37Rescue I share the same fear. I usually run from my car to the house anytime lightning is near.

That IS cool. Are you a fireman? Explains your understand of, and healthy respect for lightning.

Phobias are funny, aren't they? I wouldn't want to get hit by lightning any more than you, but I would stand on a hill waving golf clubs around in a storm before I would come within ten feet of a tarantula.

Yeah...I've tried everything to lose it too. If you worked with me you would not know I was afraid of lightening.I hide it.Inside I am freaking. Last week I was directing traffic around a MVA and the lightening was kicking off all around me. I put my hands in my turnout pockets because I was shaking, lol.
Snakes, tarantulas, spiders, lizards, Mountain Lions,Bears...Just don't bother me.Grew up with them in SoCal.There were never any lightening storms in SoCal...not like now here More..

I grew up in SoCal, too--San Diego and later the San Fernando Valley.

One time, on a trip home from the east coast, I was driving between Kingman, AZ and Needles, CA, when I encountered the worst lightning storm I've ever seen. No rain, just constant lightning hits everywhere you looked. There wasn't any moment of darkness for about twenty minutes--it was all over the place. I was 18, my 13 y.o. sister was sleeping (!) next to me. No amount of reminding myself that we were in th More..

Yeah, Arizona and the Desert has kick ass lightening storms. For what ever reason, along the coast and in the North Orange County foothills we saw very few thunderstorms. Once every 5 years or so and even then, pretty JV compared to the rest of the nation.
