Like any broken clock, "Tingles" manages to be right-on-the-money every now and then. This is one of those moments.
While his bombastic style can be aggravating at times, he absolutely exposes the Tea Party Express and it's founder, Sal Russo, for the empty vessels that they are.
At the heart of the issue here are the assertions of Tea Party Express spokesmodel, Michelle Bachman, that one of the pillars of the Constitution, which our nation was founded upon, was the eradication of slavery.
The crowning dunce-cap of her speech was that "we also know that the very founders who wrote those documents, worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States.".......
Really Michelle? The very same founders who owned slaves up until the day they died worked tirelessly to eradicate it?. One would think that if that were the case, they would have set the bar by freeing their own slaves and calling for the rest of our fledgling nation to follow their nobel example.
Not only that, according to Bachman... they also apparently continued to work tirelessly long after their deaths until slavery was finally abolished with the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863. That is quite a fete by anyone's standards to be sure.
Matthews then asks Russo to explain why he chose such a "balloon-head" as Bachman to speak for the Tea Party. What follows is five minutes of Russo avoiding the question and stammering about deficit spending and repeating the same talking points over and over, despite Matthews' dogged insistence that he answer the question concerning Bachman's glaring ignorance.
At one point, Matthews could not even harangue Russo into simply answering the question of "when did slavery end in America... what year did it end." So deeply ingrained is Russo's avoidance reflex that at times he seems like a malfunctioning android, sputtering nonsense answers and repeating the same phrases over and over. I half expected to see smoke start pouring out of his ears while a tech ran into frame and tried to reboot his hard drive.
The real upshot of this debacle is that Bachman is just another empty head with a pretty face attached, sent out by the Tea Party puppet masters as ministers of misinformation to satisfy the shallow requirements of MILF-loving Teabaggers everywhere.
The fact that she speaks like a third grade teacher reading a children's storybook is not only comical... but appropriate as well. Throw in some Vanna White hand gestures to denote writing while speaking of the writing of the Constitution... and it's pretty easy to see the level of intelligence that she is speaking to and from.
It's basically propaganda politics for dummies.
What really irks me about this particular dummy is that she, unlike a broken clock, isn't even right or accurate part of the time. Her ridiculous claims and assertions on everything from healthcare to immigration reform to taxes have been proven over and over to be distortions and outright fabrications.
The answer to the question of how you can tell if Michelle Bachman is full of shit is simply that her lips will be moving.
I happen to agree with some of what the Tea Party appears to stand for... but I will be goddamned if I'm going to listen to it from some ignorant, lying bint.
