As Mitt Romney was saying "we own this county," Our DC was either
marching to or blocking the intersections of 14th st and U st NW. This
was where a street party erupted in 2008 on election night when the
results were in-and something else might have happened if the GOP had
stolen the election again.
This time around, Our DC, some of the same folks who have organized
marches against Wal-Mart coming to DC this year, organized a march of
hundreds, maybe more, from Malcolm X Park to 14th and U. Folks from Occupy DC also showed up.
Speeches condemning Romney's economics and warning that the current
minimum wage of $7.25 an hour is nowhere near enough to live on quickly
gave way to a street blockade.
The blockade sealed all four sides of the intersection for maybe half an
hour as police looked on, this was withdrawn, the point made.

@Shaardan They should all form a business that has their economic principles as priority. But for them it's better to make others comply to their standard by whining about it.
Think about it, if their philosophy is so great, they should lead by example, and start a business where everyone gets paid the same no matter the risk or work put forth.

@ChumCannon Business is not the purpose of life. For most of the history of our species it did not exist. People worked directly on their own projects-and NOBODY had to pay or trade for housing, everyone built their own. People grew, gathered, or caught their own food, nobody paid for it at a grocery store. This persisted in North America all the way up to the Invasion 520 years ago, and beyond even that in places Native people were able to hold out.

@dcdirectactionnews What does that have to do with anything I said? If you love those anti-business, primitive ideals, why waste your time living in the most pro-business, sophisticated and bureaucratic city in these United States? I'm pretty sure you benefit greatly from the business that is government.

@ChumCannon Actually NOT: I didn't qualify for things like student debt because I resisted draft registration, never signed up for Medicaid because most of the things I will let a doctor do on my body cost less than a cheap netbook.
Possibly could sign up for food stamps, but get by without them. Better to save them for those who need them the most, such as anyone stuck working at Wal-Mart.
I live here because I was raised here and am rooted here. I also stay here because it is the belly of t More..

@Shaardan They sure could! NOBODY in DC's non-gentrified neighborhoods wants a Mormon bishop for President who could slash programs for the poor to fund benefits for the rich.
